TESTIMONAILS
"Nothing against the rockers. But, haleluiah, finaly an artist up to follow the Brazilian popular music path. Otávio Segala not only identified the foothpath among so many false footsteps but also follows it as by his own authentic way, with no copies nor melancholy from the past. What distinguishes the quality is not the rhythm but the tastes for the well forged lyrics and the intelligent melody. Blessed Novelty!"
(Luís Fernando Veríssimo, writer - Porto Alegre, Brazil)

"What a fortune that we have Otávio Segala in our art and life story! He has a special, authentic and first class work. We deserve and thank for his existence and work. Saravá, Otávio!"
(Cybele Freire, Quarteto em Cy singer - Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)

"I liked Otávio Segala’s work. He composes well. Melody, harmony... all just right! I also liked his voice. He sings well".
(Leila Pinheiro, singer and interpreter - Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)

" The first time I have listened to Otávio Segala was in a little café in Ipanema. He is an A-class singer, instrument player and composer. It is rare to find all these characteristics in one single artist. He should be listened all over Brazil and throughout the world".
(Alex Ladd, writer - New York, USA)

"Otávio Segala plays real music. He is a master composer".
(Fausto Wolff, writer and poet - Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)

"Otávio Segala doesn’t copy other artists, he mixes a bit of everything in his “mestizo” lab of Brazilian popular music. He produces a sort of melody which goes into one’s ear, and keeps reverberating, reverberating, reverberating in the head... it is “intoxicating”! In a tough and uncommon combination his compositions aggregate sophistication and, at the same time, a smooth tone easy to be listened to. You are going to see Brazil, to see how the artist becomes part of the life of the people, to recognize something very familiar and above all to understand how the interpreter makes the composer complete.
(Marcelo Canellas, journalist at Rede Globo, writer and composer - Brasília, Brazil).

NEW CD
In (2008), the second CD and first DVD of the MOKAMBO project are going to be released. This year there is the special feature of the percussion player Berbel. He is contributing with his stylized cajón and STOMP sounds (sounds produced using the body as an “instrument”).
MOKAMBO is a Brazilian project, innovative in matter of creation and execution. It has compositions with the strength and original style of Otávio Segala and his artistical partnerships. Clóvis Itaquy is a principal partnership of Otávio Segala. In MOKAMBO, Otávio Segala mixes musical influences from several Brazilian regions and sings fine literature, rich in poetry. The musical performance counts with the constant presence of Otávio Segala’s acoustic guitar and voice and it is accompanied by the percussion player Berbel. The sound effect of the guitar and the one of a kind stylized cajón is amazing! It is a conjunction of different talents and styles which result in a new aesthetic to the performances on stage as well as on the CD and DVD recordings.
MOKAMBO has intriguing sonority.
MOKAMBO is rather TO BE than TO HAVE. This is a project which proposes the presentations of the composer and interpreter Otávio Segala as well as his second CD.It is a new musical and artistical work. A product that plays with new literary ideas, confirms other instrumental expressionsand values rhythmical eclecticisms. It opens space for composers and musicians. It is art to be known in Brazil and abroad.

BERBEL
The CD “MOKAMBO” has special feature of the percussion player Berbel. Berbel enriches the songs in the recording, playing his stylized cajón with surprising technique and unique sonority, performing several Brazilian rhythms in an uneven and virtuous way. This technique makes the cajón to sound like “mini drums”; both in the alive presentations as well as in the recordings the potential of this instrument is explored beyond its traditional way.

ADVANTAGES OF THE CULTURAL SPONSORSHIP
The Cultural Sponsor, once supporting the artist, is going to have his brand attached to a worldwide known and valued fine art: Brazilian Popular Music. The cultural market is in frank expansion and the tendency of associating private initiative with art has been proved to be an excellent publicity investment. The cultural sponsorship not only captures attention from potential clients but also spreads the company’s brand resulting into notoriety. The cultural investor plays a notable part in the valorization of the culture, through linking the artist and his public, at the same time as his product is shown in more then a mere consumption good but as an active subject of our daily lives.
